Returning a Portion Back to God

Leviticus 27 describes a many tithes and offerings to the Lord for many reasons, the top reason simply being because it is His to begin with. It is not that we are offering what is ours to Him, but that we are giving back to Him that which He has given us to be of use for ministries and missions beyond what our hands and feet do.

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NASB)

Giving and/or doing is not for everyone, but God’s will is that we would do it anyway out of our love for Him just as He gives to us out of His love. Where and how is up to you. Keep watching for ministry and mission opportunities, donate if you can, and thank you for your support and prayer.

Join Us in Making a Difference

From Monte Pescador, the visionary behind Dirt ‘N’ Nails Farms Inc. and Longhaul Christian:

As we returned to Cortez after more than two decades, we witnessed a spiritual battle unfolding in the valley. Faith was lost, hope faded away. Churches engaged in finger-pointing and politics, while missions and ministries lost sight of God’s true face.

Longhaul Christian is not a church; it is a fellowship committed to supporting all Christians in their journey, regardless of denomination. Like our parent company, Dirt ‘N’ Nails Farms, our ministry is about sowing seeds of hope for those who are physically, mentally, and spiritually hungry and homeless. We acknowledge our imperfections and face the same challenges as any other Longhaul Christians. Yet, we strive to be better, repentant, guided by the Holy Spirit, and determined to restore fellowship within our community.

Why Give Online?

The 21st century came with its own rules, responsibilities, and burdens, not the least of which was the COVID pandemic that left willing hearts separated from nonprofit organizations. Today, it is often easier to donate online than it is to donate in person. Thanks to PayPal’s strict policies and security, you can donate to Longhaul Christian via Dirt ‘N’ Nails Farms’ donation page on PayPal just as you can to DNN’s general fund or to Rohi Therapy. All it takes is a credit/debit card and a willing heart.

If you have a special request for your donation to be spent in a specific way, just let us know via the same PayPal page when you donate and we will try our best to accomodate you.

If you absolutely must donate in person, you can donate at the Rohi Therapy/Dirt ‘N’ Nails Farms office at 6835 Road 25, Unit A in Cortez, Colorado, the same place we will be holding our Bible studies and centering the leadership of any other ministries and missions.

Bible Study: The Long Haul

TBD

The first Bible study of any fellowship member should be to define what we mean by being a “Longhaul Christian.” We will take to the Gospel teachings as they are applied to the rest of God’s Word to seek out the truth of what Jesus has in mind for how we live our lives, down the narrow road until He brings us home.

God’s Gardens and Food

TBD

The old stand-by mission of DNN will be taken up in Montezuma County, helping to develop and maintain community gardens to feed the physically hungry and to teach gardening and cooking techniques to those who seek to know.

Free Clinic Fridays

Frequently Asked Questions

Isn’t Longhaul Christian just another church?

That depends on how you look at it. The book of Acts shows fellowships forming more than churches, gatherings at  people’s homes to study, to break bread together, to plan ministries and missions, and only occassionally have a special guest speaker, a witness to Jesus’ life or a particular scholar. This apostolic fellowship will be more like that format.

Where did the idea for the name and ministry come from?

The name came from Monte’s briefly lived podcast, Longhaul Preacher, which was named after his experience of listening to a Channel 19 CB preacher while doing pilot car work down highways. The ministry idea came directly out of the Gospel and the Book of Acts, that Jesus Christ had people talking to each other about His teachings and this continued long after his death and ressurection in the form of fellowships.

What do donations go towards?

Generally, donations will be towards local ministries: Community gardens and education as well as the relatively minor added expenses of Bible study and pot luck fellowships are coming soon. Later ministries will be up to the fellowship.

About “Bertha”: The Big Red Truck

In 2022, Kessee Motor Company assisted us in purchasing a bigger truck than the old Ford Ranger we had been working with by giving us a bigger discount on top of the sale they had on used trucks at the time. Freya, Monte’s daughter, has since named it Bertha. Why? We don’t ask. It will be used for the gardening ministry and is currently mostly used as the parade float vehicle for Whole Family Legal LLC and Rohi Therapy.

Why a fellowship?

“I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are.” – John 17:11 (NASB)

Even before the book of Acts we hear from Jesus that we are meant to come together as one being just as He and God and the Holy Spirit are one being. A Christian fellowship is strong and can do plenty for the kingdom of God. Despite this, the Christian church has splintered time and time again in increased animosity. This is not God’s doing but mankind’s prideful work, exacerbated by the same temptations posed by Satan in attempting to sway Christ. We trust and pray that a fellowship made today can be stronger than any single church or even denomination to bring a community back together.

Why does Monte “Longhaul Preacher” Pescador not want to preach?

“It is less that I don’t want to preach and more that there are enough preachers in the valley already. None of us are truly “experts” in God’s Word, so I also back away from the idea that I do much more than teach how to find the answers in the Bible. I do not have the answers. He does. Therefore, a Bible study is all that is really needed at the current time. Besides, if anyone really wants to hear me preach, they can just look at some of my past podcasts that had me preaching up a storm.”
